August 2026 Message from Your Regional Representative
Summer is in full swing!
I’ve been busy leading board trainings across the region, including Basic Board Training, customized trainings for individual churches, and workshops on mission, vision, and core values. Even with many people taking summer vacations, the trainings have been well attended. One of the greatest gifts is that we all learn from one another, regardless of the size or location of our ministries.
Soon I’ll be meeting with the spiritual leaders in the Minneapolis area. I deeply believe in the value of our subregional gatherings. While every church is unique, we share many common hopes, challenges, and opportunities. Whenever we come together, we leave with fresh ideas, renewed encouragement, and wisdom gleaned from one another's experiences.
I’m especially excited about our Regional Conference in Indianapolis, September 21–23. One of the highlights will be musician David Roth, who has long been one of my favorite performers. David has a remarkable gift for blending humor, spirituality, and thoughtful social commentary into songs that inspire both laughter and reflection. He is also a genuine humanitarian and simply an all-around wonderful person.
Here's a fun story: while I was out of town, David called and asked if he could perform at Unity of Anderson on September 21. Of course, I enthusiastically said, "Yes!" When I returned home and looked at my calendar, I realized September 21 was also the opening day of our Regional Conference. So I called him back and asked if he would be willing to perform on an even bigger stage—and he graciously said, "Yes!" I know you're going to love him.
Our host, Michael Everett Davis, Spiritual Leader at Unity of Indianapolis, is a gifted musician in his own right, so we are truly in for a musical treat throughout the conference.
Our opening night presenter will be Martha Creek, and I simply can't say enough wonderful things about her. Her wit, Southern charm, and refreshingly honest style have a way of touching both the heart and the soul. You'll find yourself reflecting on her words long after the evening is over. I'm also looking forward to hearing Myra McFadden. She is new to me personally, but I have heard nothing but glowing praise about her wisdom and presence. I can't wait to experience what she brings to our gathering.
